Wulf Amelung has been Director of the Jülich Institute of Agrosphere since 2011 and has taught general soil science and soil ecology at the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Bonn since 2004. He is a member of the PhenoRob Cluster of Excellence at the University of Bonn. The scientist deals with questions relating to nutrient cycles in soils, soil degradation and the behavior of pollutants in soils.
Amelung was listed as a “Highly Cited Researcher” in 2021 and 2018, making him one of the world's most frequently cited scientists. The soil researcher's most recent awards include the Emil Ramann Medal of the German Soil Science Society, which he received in 2019. Wulf Amelung was admitted to the Leopoldina in 2022.
