The University of Bonn did also well on the international stage, ranking 34th globally for Agricultural Sciences, 38th in Mathematics and 41st in Economics— within the top 50 worldwide in three fields. Overall the University of Bonn ranked among the world’s top 100 universities in ten subjects including Atmospheric Science, Remote Sensing, Biology, Human Biology, Statistics, Medical Technology and Dentistry.
Rector Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael Hoch was pleased with the results, commenting “These ranking results re-affirm that our institution is competitive internationally, showing us to be among the very best, globally as well as nationally. We will continue doing everything we can to consolidate our position, by systematically executing on our Excellence Strategy.”
In the Shanghai Ranking, universities are assessed according to nine indicators, including academic publications, citation rates and international co-publications. New evaluation categories have been introduced for 2024, including the number of highly cited researchers (HCR), International Academic Organization Leadership (Leadership) and Chief Editors of International Academic Journals (Editor). The University of Bonn was ranked in 23 subjects.
