Social Program and Help for International Students

When arriving in Bonn, there is a lot of administrative work to do as well as many unanswered questions. Many students from abroad leave their home country for the first time by themselves and feel insecure and alone at first. The International Affairs Unit will support you in this as much as possible.

How does it feel to study at the agricultural faculty as an international student - here some impressions from four international students?

Administrative support

Enrollment at the University of Bonn (Zoom session in August) and circular mail on the procedure

allocation of dormitory places via contingents (reservation deadlines: move-in on August 1st > by mid-June / move-in on September 1st > by mid-July / move-in on October 1st > by mid-August). For the allocation of dormitory places, please send an email to international@lwf.uni-bonn.de (registration with the Studierendenwerk does not go through us and you are more likely to get a place in a dormitory through us)

City registration (group appointments in October and November: We accompany the students to the city hall and carry out the registration together) - Forms and procedures for registration and making an appointment online with the city of Bonn.

Other matters (visas, letters of support, etc.)

The International Office der Uni Bonnhas compiled detailed information on preparing for your stay. There you will also find information on visas, health insurance, enrollment, accommodation and German courses.

For the Faculty of Agriculture, we have compiled a small Study Guide with specific information about the Poppelsdorf campus and the faculty's facilities. There you will find details about the buildings and deadlines, courses and exams, but also general information on arriving, opening a bank account, accommodation, health insurance and leisure activities.

Integration Program

Our social tutors organize small and large events for our international students and doctoral students on a regular basis. 4-6 times a year, the faculty also organizes nice events for you: Together we hike up the Drachenfels, go to the opera or have a nice Christmas party so that you can experience what German Christmas feels like. To be informed about all events, please join our "Internationals" WhatsApp group by sending an email to international-whk@lwf.uni-bonn.de.

PhD Café of the Faculty of Agriculture

Current note: The PhD Café is currently taking a break!

For our PhD students, the Graduate School, together with the International Affairs Unit, organizes a PhD Café every Thursday 12:30 - 14:30 on the premises at Katzenburgweg 9. Over coffee and cookies, you can get to know each other, discuss your progress and problems or ask your questions to the team of the International Affairs Unit and the Graduate School. There is always someone from the PhD Office on the 1st meeting of every month.
