Why did you choose the University of Bonn as the host university for your semester abroad?

I had already completed my Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Sciences at the University of Bonn. So I already knew the university and the city well and wanted to study here again for one semester.

What do you like about Bonn? What has been your best experience here?

What I like best about Bonn is how well-connected the city is. As a student, you also get a student transit pass for public transport for the semester, which you can use to travel all across NRW.

Why should other exchange students complete a study visit at the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Bonn?

The University of Bonn offers very good and profound specialist knowledge. The range of courses is broad and the courses are taught in English. Furthermore, Bonn offers many opportunities to do an internship in the field of agricultural sciences.

"I was looking for a study program that combines economics and agriculture"

Pauline Gautier

L’institut Agro Dijon / Frankreich

Master AFECO

Why did you choose the University of Bonn as the host university for your semester abroad?

I was looking for a degree course that combined economics and agriculture. My Erasmus coordinator in France recommended the University of Bonn to me. I had also previously learned some German at my university in France.

What do you like about Bonn? What has been your best experience here?

I really like the city and the center. Bonn is not too big and there are lots of green spaces. I live in a rather rural area in France, so I felt very comfortable. Bonn has lots of great museums! The city is also well-connected and very close to Cologne. The best experience was definitely getting to know new people and cultures. The city of Bonn and the University of Bonn are very international.

Why should other exchange students complete a study visit at the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Bonn?

The lectures are super interesting and of really good quality. They are also very versatile. The professors are very approachable and supportive.

What was the biggest difference to your home university?

At my home university, you spend more time at the university and in the lecture halls. In contrast, at the University of Bonn, you do more self-study.

Why did you choose the University of Bonn as the host university for your semester abroad?

The University of Bonn was highly recommended to me by other students. It also offers some interesting courses. I was particularly interested in the molecular approaches.

What do you like about Bonn? What has been your best experience here?

What I liked most about Bonn was the huge selection of museums. Bonn offers beautiful nature and lots of opportunities to go for walks, for example along the Rhine. The student transit pass is also very convenient, as it allows you to travel on public transport throughout NRW for free. Furthermore, I find Bonn affordable compared to other cities. My best experience in Bonn was when a friend from Belgium visited me. We visited the ‘Haus der Geschichte’ and had a great time together.

Why should other exchange students complete a study visit at the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Bonn?

I really enjoyed the teaching approach. The Master's courses were interesting and there was also the opportunity to complete some courses with presentations or written assignments without having to write an exam. There was a great framework program with regular meetings with the other students and tutors. For example, a meal together in the canteen, virtual games nights or meeting up in the evening to explore the city.

"The ARTS Master's program is very international"

Mathis Larribe

Institut National Polytechnique Toulouse / Frankreich

Master ARTS

Why did you choose the University of Bonn as the host university for your semester abroad?

There were a few universities to choose from. However, the courses in the ARTS study program are really interesting and I liked them best. That's why I chose the University of Bonn.

What do you like about Bonn? What has been your best experience here?

I really like the size of the city. Bonn is not too big and has lots of green spaces. The botanical garden is great and the architecture of the many old buildings here is also very impressive. Furthermore, there are a lot of international students in Bonn. The ARTS Master's program is very international and the people are very diverse! There are many different cultures, religions and opinions. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, everyone gets on well and there is an interesting exchange.

What was the biggest difference to your home university?

In France, I go to a school for engineering. The teaching methods are very different there. In Bonn, the focus is more on research and students are expected to study independently. On the other hand, you have a bit more free time here.
