Master of Science Nature Conservation and Landscape Ecology

In this interdepartmental Master's program at the University of Bonn, the socially defined goals of nature conservation are placed in the light of new landscape ecology research. The aim is both to impart nature conservation know-how and to critically develop nature conservation concepts against the background of rapid global change. Students are involved in research projects and learn to understand landscape ecology contexts relevant to nature conservation. In addition to tried and tested methods, new approaches are also explored, e.g. numerical modeling for the derivation of scenarios or the use of digital image processing in nature conservation monitoring. Processes in the landscape are evaluated against the background of social negotiation processes.
